'JB' has played cricket for the club since he was a boy, playing first team cricket and captaining the second team. He regularly returns with his President's XI together with celebrities such as Henry Blofeld, whose footsteps he is following as a cricket commentator.
Former British Officer and First Secretary of the British High Commission in Canada whose home in East Bergholt, the Hermitage, hosted many excellent party's during the club's cricket week. He died in 2010, aged 86.
Former officer in the Indian Army who died in East Bergholt aged 94 in 1993

Experienced, emotionally intelligent man manager becomes skipper a year after joining the club
Led first team to Division One in 2019 after finishing 6th twice in 2017 & 2018
Won back -to-back promotions from Division 4 in 2014 and Division 3 in 2015, finishing 6th in Div 2 (and return of overseas players)
Relegated to Div 4 when team unable to secure 3 points in final game. First time without an overseas for 8 years.
Team narrowly beat relegation in 2010 with only one team going down but did go down to Div 3 in 2011 after losing overseas pro toward end of season
Took team to highest league position , 3rd in Div 2 behind Frinton and Copdock 1st teams in 2006 - before relegation and promotion followed
Strong team that should have performed better
Brought in from Div 1 to oversea ambitious era with new overseas pros from Perth Cricket Club, W.A.
Won promotions from from Division 3 up to the 'new' Div 2 with the help of Doug Frame - first overseas player.
